2013 Crime Prevention Award Nominations thru Sept. 18

The City of Norfolk is looking for extraordinary people who exceed expectations in combating crime and the causes of crime in Norfolk, especially “unsung heroes” who deserve recognition. The 21st Annual Norfolk Crime Prevention Awards will be presented Monday evening October 28th at 6:30 pm.

 The deadline to nominate an individual or group for an award has been extended to September 18.

We are looking for volunteers to deliver the newsletter on our Louisiana Drive, Yorktown Drive, and Woodfin Ave. routes and other areas in the neighborhood. Newsletters are delivered door-to-door monthly. You can deliver as few or as many as you like (our volunteers deliver anywhere from 15 to 55 each the first week of each month). If you would like to volunteer, email surbanacres@gmail.com.

August SACL Meeting

This month our meeting is once again at Norfolk Collegiate’s new fine arts center.  Doors open at 6 pm for refreshments, the meeting begins at 6:30.

And remember, hot dogs, chips, and drinks are provided at the picnic…but you bring the desserts! Winner of the dessert contest receives a copy of Tidewater Table, the new cook book by Virginian Pilot columnist and staff epicure Lorraine Eaton.  And…the winner will be featured in a future Eaton column in The Pilot.
