The January 2019 Suburban Acres Civic League meeting on January 14, 2019 at Suburban Park Elementary School featured a very timely and informative guest speaker, Mr. Lee Williams of Coastal Tax Service.  Mr. Williams ran the membership through the plethora of changes to the tax code for the upcoming tax season, along with other pertinent tax information for communities like ours.

As usual, the food and refreshments were outstanding!  Thank you to Pete Bastinelli for volunteering to bring the food (tasty pizza)!

SACL Holiday Party a Success!

The civic league’s December holiday party was a great success with a festive crowd of almost 100 neighbors.  We were joined again this year by folks from the Wards Corner Civic League.

A number of our elected officials came by, including Virginia Delegate Jay Jones, Norfolk Sheriff Joe Baron, Mayor Kenny Alexander, Vice Mayor Martin Thomas, City Council Member Andria McClellan, Norfolk Public School Board Chair, Dr. Noelle Gabriel, and School Board members Lauren Campsen and Adale Martin.  Ted Drake, representing Virginia Delegate Bob Bloxom, also joined us.

The Norfolk Public Schools Jazz Band provided the entertainment.  Thanks to everyone who helped out, brought side dishes and desserts, and helped to eat all the great food!

REMINDER: SACL Holiday Party (& General Meeting)

The Suburban Acres Civic League will hold its annual holiday party at the December meeting and invites the Wards Corner Civic League to join us!!!

Please bring a side dish, appetizer, or dessert to share.  The civic leagues will provide fried chicken and beverages.  Entertainment by Norfolk Public Schools Jazz Band.

REMINDER: No SACL General Meeting on November 12, 2018

REMINDER: The Suburban Acres Civic League will not have a meeting on November 12th since Norfolk Public Schools and all the other nearby private schools are closed for Veterans Day holiday.  Enjoy the day and give thanks to all the veterans who have served and protected our county.

 

Please plan to come to the league’s annual potluck holiday party on December 10th.  We will have a joint meeting with the Wards Corner Civic League, with music provided by the Norfolk Jazz Band.

Soggy, but Successful Adopt-a-Spot! [Pictures]

The SACL held its Adopt-a-Spot event on October 20th, 2018.  Thanks to everyone that came out to help pick up trash from Suburban Park Elementary to the Tinee Giant along Thole Street.  The weather was rather rotten, which understandably kept some folks away, but we still picked up a lot of trash.  We are looking forward to the next Adopt-a-Spot event!

REMINDER!

This weekend, don’t forget to come out and pitch in to clean up Suburban Acres!

Saturday, October 20, 2018, the Suburban Acres Civic League is hosting our Adopt-a-Spot event.  Suburban Acres neighbors will gather to clean up trash in the areas of Suburban Park Elementary School and all the way down Thole St. to the Tinee Giant.  Weather permitting, of course!  We will meet at Suburban Park Elementary School at 9 AM.

Bring your friends and family and help keep your community clean in fellowship with your neighbors.

Our last Adopt-a-Spot in August was a success with great turnout!  Let’s make this one another great success!  The forecast calls for a beautiful, crisp, fall morning.
