Join us on 12 January @ 7 pm at the Suburban Park Elementary School auditorium for the first Civic League Meeting of 2009.

There will be a vote on the meeting times, with a proposal to move the meetings up to 6:30 pm.

We will discuss the direction going forward for 2009.  Your participation is essential for the success of this organization.  Come meet some of your neighbors and be a part of making Suburban Acres Norfolk’s finest community!

Help set our Civic League goals for 2009.

The SACL Executive Committee needs to know what is important to you as we plan for the coming year.

It’s important that neighborhood issues are addressed and good ideas incorporated.  With a few hundred families in our community, not everything can be included in the 2009 plan, but the Executive Committee will be charged with assessing and prioritizing what is presented.

Please complete survey in the recent newsletter (or print it from this link) and bring it to the January meeting,  or email the following details to the Civic League by 15 January.

Civic League Meeting Signs are here!

In addition to the email notifications and this website, Suburban Acres Civic League is now posting four (4) meeting signs (seen below) to give neighbors a gentle reminder.  Beginning in January, the Civic League will meet at Suburban Park Elementary  on the second Monday of EACH month.  (A vote in January will be held to move the time up to 6:30PM)

Sign Locations:

1. Thole St median near Tinee Giant
2. Thole St median in front of Suburban Park Elementary
3. Virginian Dr @ Louisiana Ave
4. Suburban Pkwy @ in front of Suburban House (near Norfolk Collegiate)

* Thanks to those neighbors who are helping to manage the display of the signs.

The board is looking into procuring a couple more signs to cover the Granby Park – Fife St area.

Suburban Park Elementary is organizing a food drive with the goal to make 30 baskets to ensure needy families in their school have a wonderful feast to celebrate this Thanksgiving. The Civic League will be supporting this food drive, and we ask the members of our community to help us out. We will collect canned goods at the November 10^th Civic League meeting and we will be making additional donations, such as turkeys, potatoes, onions, fruit, and pies.
