Join us for this month’s Suburban Acres Civic League meeting, Monday evening November 10.  DOORS OPEN HALF-HOUR EARLY THIS MONTH AT 5:30 PM FOR FLU SHOT CLINIC provided by the Wards Corner Farm Fresh Pharmacy (no cash up front-Farm Fresh will bill your insurance). Meeting starts at 6:30 pm. 

Our presentation this month is from Norfolk Fire-Rescue, and will highlight fire department operations in the city, and fire safety. 

Please bring a non-perishable food item donation for the annual Suburban Park Elementary Holiday Food Drive.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Harris Teeter plans and design to be unveiled

Chris Perry, on behalf of Suburban Land Management, will be attending civic league meetings in Wards Corner, Talbot Park, and Suburban Acres in February to unveil his plans and design for a brand new Harris Teeter anchored shopping center at the southeast corner of Wards Corner.  The following meetings are open to the public to view the plans:

  • Suburban Acres Civic League meeting: February 13, 2012 @ 6:30 / Location: Suburban Park Elementary School, 310 Thole St.
  • Talbot Park Civic League meeting: February 21, 2012 @ 7:00 / Location: Royster Memorial Church, 6901 Newport Ave.
  • Wards Corner Civic League meeting: February 27, 2012 @ 6:45 / Location: Fitness and Wellness Center, 7300 Newport Ave.

Greater Wards Corner Task Force – needs YOU

Neighbors interested in participating in planning for the future development of our corner of Norfolk alongside City Council, etc. are invited to attend the Greater Wards Corner Task Force meeting. 

Suburban Acres is in need of representation.  If you have the time and interest, please attend (details below) and please provide the SACL Executive Committee with a status brief so that we can stay plugged in.  Contact Tim Fox if you have any questions.  Suburban Acres NEEDs your involvement!

Street Meet – Tonight!

Monday, June 20 @ 6:30pm

If you live within a few blocks of Kirby Crescent and Suburban Parkway, please join us tonight at the the first SACL Street Meet, hosted by our Vice President, Ms. JoDee Cook!

The Street Meet is an opportunity for neighbors to casually get to know each other, and it facilitates our building a network among immediate neighbors. 

Bring a pad of paper or your smart phone, and be ready to capture some names, numbers, and email addresses of the folks who live near you. 

Refreshments are provided by JoDee, however you’re welcome to bring along something to share if you have a special “flavor”.
