Norfolk Town Hall Meeting – February 12

To Hear Comments Regarding Mid-town Office Tower Project
Three members of Norfolk’s City Council will host a Town Hall Meeting, Saturday, February 12, 2011, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Granby High School.  Council members Tommy Smigiel (Ward 5), Angelia Williams (Ward 7) and Andy Protogyrou (Ward 1) have called the meeting to hear comments from citizens regarding the Mid-town Office Tower, a proposed construction project at the corner of Tidewater Drive and Virginia Beach Boulevard.  The project developer, Tivest Development, is asking for additional city support for the $32.7 million project.
An ordinance authorizing the City Manager to negotiate amendments to an existing agreement between the city and the developer is scheduled for a vote when City Council convenes Tuesday afternoon, February 15th at 2:30pm, and the hosting council members want to give Norfolk citizens an increased opportunity to voice their views on the project.
