If you live in our neighborhood, The Suburban is on its way to your door!

This Saturday April 18th is KEEP NORFOLK BEAUTIFUL DAY, the day the Great American Cleanup comes to Suburban Acres.

Our project this year is assisting Granby Elementary School (across Granby Street at 7101 Newport Ave.) with some beautification projects.  We will be spreading mulch, replenishing sand in the playground sand box, doing a general clean-up, and tending the school garden (students have planted their spring seeds, so momentum is already there!).

Please join us at 9 am. This will NOT be difficult work, but it will go more quickly with more friends… and supervision for the younger ones.  (If you are dropping off a youngster to participate, please see us at the sign-in table for a parental permission slip before you leave).

Refreshments, water, etc. and work gloves, as well as some rakes, shovels, brooms, and wheel barrows will be provided (please bring rakes, shovels, brooms, and wheel barrows if you have them).  Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes.

Please join the Granby Elementary School staff, LEAP Norfolk volunteers, local Girl Scouts, and your neighbors for this event and let’s make a great memory while helping beautify our area and earn EARNN (Environmental Awards for Recycling in Norfolk Neighborhoods) points!

The Great American Clean Up is the LARGEST VOLUNTEER effort in the United States each year with 2 Million participants…come be a part of something HUGE.
