Suburban Acres 4th of July Parade and Picnic

This year’s parade is Friday, July 4th, 2014 at 10 am, with picnic to follow

Information

Lineup starts: 9:30 am, Galveston Blvd. adjacent to Caton Park / Suburban Park Elementary playground

Parade starts: 10 am

The parade is about six blocks long, and lasts about 20-25 minutes.  Parade entrants are encouraged to be part of the lineup and start at the corner of Galveston Blvd. and Carl St. so everyone along the route can see you, but some families and children just join in along the way.

We have near-professional-grade family floats on trailers to kids on bikes to singles and couples walking with their pet: whatever your level of participation it will be enjoyed!

If you don’t live along the parade route, most neighbors are pretty accommodating.  You can also watch from the front yard of 549 Carl St. (intersection of Carl and Suburban Parkway).

Prizes are awarded for awesome parade entries!

Picnic follows at Suburban Park Elementary.  Hot dogs and drinks provided; please bring a desert to share if you can!

Also, volunteers are needed for all aspects of the event, many services needed are very simple—like grilling or judging the desert contest, to more complicated like marshaling and spacing the parade entries, soliciting donors for prizes, etc.

Be a part of this great Americana event. Email suburbanacres@gmail.com or call 869-3204 if you can volunteer for a specific role, or would just like to participate in planning.
