League Holiday Party a Big Success!
The civic league’s festive holiday party was a great success with a record crowd of about 150 people. The Wards Corner Civic League co-sponsored the party with our league again this year.
A number of elected officials came by, including Virginia Delegate Rob Bloxom and his aide Ted Drake, Norfolk Sheriff Joe Baron, Mayor Kenneth Alexander, Ph.D., City Council Members Andria McClellan and Courtney Doyle, Norfolk Public School Board Chair, Dr. Noelle Gabriel, and School Board members Carlos Clanton and Adale Martin. Tony Wagerman, representing Virginia Senator Lynwood Lewis, also joined us.
Nearby civic league presidents in attendance were Garnzie West from Coronado, Nate Kinnison from Larchmont-Edgewater, and Dale Ryder from Highland Park, in addition to our own Louie Gabriel and Wards Corner league president Scott Guirlinger. The Norfolk Public Schools Jazz Band provided the entertainment.
Thanks to everyone who helped out, brought side dishes and desserts, and helped to eat all the great food! And many thanks to Harris Teeter for its donation of gift certificates, and to Golden Corral for its donation to the costs of the fried chicken.
