4th Annual River Ride
Benefitting Environmental Education in Norfolk
On Sunday, May 3rd, Friends of Norfolk’s Environment (FONE) hosts the Fourth Annual River Ride along the Lafayette River. All proceeds from this fun-filled event will benefit environmental programs of the Norfolk Environmental Commission.
Three convenient put-in locations offer a variety of guided paddle routes along Norfolk’s scenic, historic waterways. Partner organizations Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Elizabeth River Project, Wild River Outfitters, Kayak Nature Tours and Norfolk Department of Recreation will offer their expertise on wildlife and plant habitats along the Lafayette River. The River Ride offers a range of kayaking skill levels from beginner to expert and can happily accommodate those who are simply looking for tranquility in a natural setting. Kayaks are available for rent or participants may bring their own kayaks.
Tickets are $25 and are available by advance registration only. Sponsorship packages are also available.
